It's here!
It’s here!

It’s HERE! Launch day for Beyond the Ashes, Golden Gate Chronicles 2, is finally here!

So many of you have said to me, “I can’t wait until the next book!” Believe me, the wait is even harder on my end. I fell in love with Gerald and Ruby years ago, and I’ve been sitting on pins and needles waiting to introduce them to you.

Of course, if you read Out of the Ruins, you’ve met Gerald already. Wasn’t he a sweetheart? I planned Gerald’s character as a simple bridge by which to introduce the romantic leads, Abby and Robert. He was Abby’s cousin and Robert’s mentor–really, that’s all I intended. But as the book grew, he blossomed into a voice of wisdom and of wit. The deep, abiding friendship between Robert and Gerald took me by surprise, and Gerald’s caring, compassionate nature touched my heart. He balanced Robert’s ambitions.

When it came time to plan the second book, I knew Gerald deserved a chance at love. Why hadn’t he found it? Such a perfect guy? So, as the author, I put on my matchmaker’s hat and created the perfect woman for him. Or, should I say, the perfect person to drive him crazy?

Ruby is a young widow searching for a fresh start. Tired of society weddings and teas, she decides to move to San Francisco to help with the refuges and to aid her brother in his X-ray research. Love is the furthest thing from her mind. After burying her first husband, she dealt with her grief and fear by cocooning herself in a safe world. She’s afraid of many things, from automobiles to love. Gerald is all of her fears embodied in a single man. She’s already learned that marriage doesn’t promise a lifetime of love–why would she ever put herself through it again? But in Gerald’s words, “God doesn’t owe me answers. My job is to trust.” Can Ruby learn to do that?

More wisdom from Gerald.
More wisdom from Gerald.

I hope you enjoy the new book! It should be available everywhere now. If it’s not at your local bookstore, ask them about it. They can probably order it for you, and maybe they’ll order one or two for their shelves, as well. Also, request it at your library. It’s a dream of mine to see my books on every library shelf in the country! Wouldn’t that be awesome?

If you’d prefer to read it in ebook format, it’s available at Amazon, CBD, and Barnes & Noble. Find the sales links here.

Blessings!

Karen
